Peer Mentoring Program

Autumn 2021 - Present

During my sophomore year, I became an Honors Community Ambassador (HCA). As I worked with other HCAs on various projects, I saw a need for a system where students of diverse backgrounds could share knowledge and resources. The following year, my peers and I launched the Honors Peer Mentoring Program, a unique branch of the Honors community that matches students with upperclassmen who can guide their college journey. My role as the Director challenged me to break out of my comfort zone and move forward with my vision to make a difference in the Honors community.

Peer Educators

Autumn 2021

That same year, I took my leadership skills into the classroom as a Peer Educator for a section of incoming Honors students. By presenting relevant information about the Honors curriculum and leading engaging activities, I facilitated a welcoming space for my students to transition to college. Being a Peer Educator helped me become a more empathetic leader and reaffirmed my passion for education. I'm still in touch with some of my students and I'm so proud of how they've grown since our class together!

Communications Internship

Summer 2022 - Present

This year, I'm thrilled to be the Communications Intern for the Honors Program! This role has allowed me to synthesize my creative and leadership experiences while learning about different tools and ways of understanding and communicating with specific audiences about a wide variety of topics. This was most evident in my work for our annual Global Challenges event, where we invited speakers from diverse fields to discuss the politics of care. From designing digital marketing tools to moderating the conversation as a Q&A coordinator, I discovered how critical creative, collaborative communication is in all stages of event production.
