Winter 2023
Reflection

Highlights

  • I was awarded the Mary Gates Research Scholarship and the Thomas Sedlock Icon ScholarshipAt the end of fall quarter, I had a lot of doubts about myself and whether I was good enough to continue pursuing research. But Dr. Palermo helped me recognize my potential and that opened up so many exciting opportunities in the past few months. These two scholarships are a testament to my resilience as a researcher and I'm so grateful that my work will be funded next quarter!

  • I was selected for UW's 2023 Husky 100This award recognizes 100 undergraduate and graduate students who are making the most of their time at UW. Through my application, I reflected on the challenges and achievements that shaped my Husky experience, which helped me see how much I've grown in the past four years. I'm beyond honored to receive this award and look forward to celebrating with the rest of my cohort!

  • I met all of my winter quarter goals. I finally started my thesis, practiced self-care every day, and made good use of my ski pass at Stevens. Here's to my healthy, fun, and productive quarter!

Goals

  • Complete my thesis. The end is near and I officially have about two months to complete my thesis. As daunting as that sounds, I'm excited to build a writing routine and complete the culmination of my work with WebMAP and my education in the Neuroscience program.

  • Prepare for my post-grad job. Another highlight of my quarter was receiving an offer to continue in the Palermo Lab as a Clinical Research Coordinator after I graduate! I plan to spend next quarter training for lab assessments and preparing to get my Medical Assistant certificate.

  • Tackle my spring fitness bucket list. As the weather gets warmer, I'm excited to get more active outside. Some of the activities I have planned are golfing, playing tennis, and paddle boarding.
